❓ Frequently Asked Questions

💰 Who pays Ohio Energy Advocates?

Our fee is paid by the acquiring oil and gas company — not by the landowner.   This means your signing bonus and royalty remain untouched. You participate risk-free, with full representation and no financial burden.

🛡️ What does OEA do for landowners?

We provide strategic, ethical, and results-driven representation to help landowners secure the best possible oil and gas agreement terms. Our services include:

  • Combining acreage with neighboring landowners to increase negotiating power
  • Creating competitive bidding environments so companies bid against each other — driving up your value
  • Providing access to our proprietary database of active oil and gas companies operating in Ohio
  • Negotiating fair, transparent agreements that protect your rights and eliminate hidden risks
  • Educating landowners about their options, leverage, and long-term considerations
  • Ensuring risk-free participation with no upfront costs and no obligation unless you choose to sign

🧭 Why shouldn’t I negotiate alone?

Oil and gas companies have legal teams and decades of experience protecting their interests. Without representation, landowners often sign unfavorable terms, miss out on competitive offers, or face long-term risks. We level the playing field — ethically, transparently, and at no cost to you.

🤝 Can I decide to sign on my own after I join OEA?

Yes — you always retain the right to make your own decision. We never pressure landowners, and your autonomy is always respected.

⚖️ What’s the difference between working with OEA and my local attorney?

Local attorneys often provide valuable legal review — but they typically work alone, charge hourly fees, and don’t create competitive bidding environments. OEA combines landowner acreage, invites multiple companies to bid, and negotiates from a position of strength.   We’re paid by the oil company, not you — and we focus exclusively on maximizing landowner value, not just reviewing paperwork.

📄 What types of agreements does OEA help with?

We assist landowners with a wide range of energy-related agreements, including:

  • Oil & Gas Leases
  • Mineral Conveyances and Sales
  • Pipeline Easements and Right-of-Way Agreements
  • Surface Use Agreements
  • Amendments, Extensions, and Lease Renewals   Our goal is to ensure every agreement is clear, fair, and aligned with your long-term interests.

📞 How do I get started?
